county. a shooting and stabbing overnight. it happened in the 600 block of audrey lane. the investigation seems to be focused on a car parked there. police say two people - a man and a woman - were both shot and stabbed. they were taking to the hospital in critical but stable condition. so far no arrests. our john gonzalez is headed to the scene to get more information. we'll have an update form him coming up later in the hour. days after their school was closed becaues of a bedbug and rodent infestation - students at savoy elementar

are pulling a second straight all-nighter to protest another one of trump's picks. this time- it's over attorney general nominee, senator jeff sessions. the vote to confirm sessions is scheduled for today. the president tweeted late last night- saying it's a "disgrace" that his full cabinet isn't in place yet. senator eliz abeth warren is now barred from speaking on the floor for the remainder of the debate on jeff sessions' nomination. warren earned a rare rebuke by the senate yesterday for impugning the motives and conduct of a fellow senator. afterward, warren tweeted, quote.. "i will not be silent about a nominee for a-g who has made derogatory and racist comments that have no place in our justice system." supporters of sessions say all allegations of racism against him are

louisiana after tornadoes like this one left a path of destruction across the state. according to the national weather service, this particular storm packed winds of up to 135 miles per hour. hardest hit is eastern new orleans -- where the mayor estimates 250-homes and businesses are damaged. there are no reports of any deaths... but at least two-dozen people were hurt. a tornado also

to conduct counter terrorism raids in yemen. acording to the new york times - the country is banning u-s ground troops. the report says the decision is in response to a deadly special operations raid just two weeks ago. a navy seal was killed in the shoot-out, along with 14 al-qaeda members, and several yemeni civilians, including an eight-year-old girl. the raid's apparent target, the leader of al-qaeda in the

for a missing mom and baby in fairfax county. 16-year-old lizzy rivera colindres - and her 5 and a half month old son aidan have not been since mid january. yesterday crews were out retracing their steps - and talking to neighbors. there's also a search for the child's father: 18-year-old jose castillo rivas. police say the teen was last seen with him... despite a restraining order. if you know anything -- call police. this morning -

search for a missing woman near great falls. park police say becky mcleskey entered the park around 4:30 monday afternoon, but never left. her car was found parked on the virginia side late monday night. yesterday teams searched the area - including in the potomac river. anyone with information should contact park police. voters in fairfax city have elected david meyer as their new mayor. meyer defeated two other candidates in yesterday's special election. meyer replaces scott silverthorne who resigned last august following his arrest in a sex-for-meth sting. since then, the mayor's position has been filled on an interim basis. silverthorne is due back in court today for a preliminary hearing. also happening today - sentencing is set for an arlington man who killed his estranged wife. david black was found guilty in the murder of bonnine black back in november. the jury recommended two life sentences for black. court records say he broke into bonnie's home and stabbed her. the couple had been going through a difficult divorce. sentencing is set for 1:30 this afternoon. d-c police have a warning for you. callersar
